Codechime Notes Privacy Policy

Introduction

Codechime Software Solutions ("Codechime", "we", "us", or "our") respects the privacy of our users ("you" or "your"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and secure your personal information when you use our Notes mobile application ("App").

We are committed to complying with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other applicable data privacy laws.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve the App's functionality:

Registration Information: When you register for a Codechime account, we collect your email address, mobile number, password, and full name. This allows us to create your account, secure it, and enable ecosystem features like account identification and profile displays.
User-Generated Content (Your "Notes"): The core function of the App is to store the titles and body text ("Notes") you create. Disclaimer: This text can contain any information you choose to save, including personal, sensitive, or confidential data. You are solely responsible for the content you save in your Notes.
Guest User Information: If you use the App as a guest, we generate a unique identifier (UUID) which is a random string of characters that does not identify you personally. We associate your Notes with this token on our cloud servers.
Internal App Usage Data: We collect fully anonymized data about how you interact with the App itself (screen views, button/menu taps, and feature usage). This data cannot be linked back to you and is used internally to eliminate bugs, understand user behavior, and optimize performance.

Use of Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

To create and manage your ecosystem account.
To provide the core cloud functions of the App (saving, editing, displaying, and updating notes).
To securely sync your data across devices.
To display relevant advertisements via third-party providers (applicable in upcoming updates).
To improve the App's performance and stability.
To comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data or your Notes to third parties. Data is only shared under limited circumstances:

Service Providers: We share information with essential third-party vendors who help us operate our systems, such as our cloud hosting provider in Singapore. These vendors are contractually bound to keep your data confidential.
Advertising Providers: In future releases supported by advertisements, we may utilize third-party services like Google AdMob. These platforms collect anonymized device IDs to serve ads. We never share your saved Notes or registration text with advertising providers.
Legal Compliance: We may disclose information if required by a valid legal request, such as a court order or subpoena.

Data Security

We implement strict security measures to protect your information, including AES-256 encryption for data at rest and in transit. We run regular security assessments and follow industry best practices for storage protection. However, because no transmission method over the internet is completely bulletproof, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Data Transfers

Your information is stored on secure cloud infrastructure currently located in Singapore. If you access the App from the European Economic Area (EEA) or other regions with localized data rules, we utilize appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to ensure your data receives an equivalent tier of protection.

Data Retention

We retain your information only as long as necessary to fulfill business, legal, and operational requirements. All notes, including guest entries, are stored securely on our servers rather than purely local device files.

Anonymized Usage Data	Indefinitely	Retained strictly in aggregate form to analyze application health, debug code, and improve layout interfaces.

Upon explicit account deletion requests, your account is deactivated, and data is wiped or archived in line with the periods specified above before permanent system erasure.

Your Rights

In accordance with the Philippine DPA and the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, and exercise data portability. To exercise these rights, or to initiate account termination, contact us at info@codechime.com.

Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
